Music
What kind of music do you play?
We have a very wide selection of music.
Can you explain what the meanings are to remix, re-drum, etc.?
Bootleg: Taking an original song via the original arrangement (or) using a separated instrumental/acapella and associating it with a previously unrelated song or arrangement often including new percussion, effects and underlying production.
Mashup: Taking a vocal from one song and blending it IN KEY with a different song instrumental without any production elements involved.
Re-Drum/Club Mix: Taking the original song and simply adding previously non-existent drum patterns and syncopations to enhance the energy of a song.
Edit: Changing the original song structure to fit the DJ’s preference. In the EDM world, this can also be interpreted as taking a breakdown of one song and then changing the original drop with a new drop of the editors preference. This can also apply to acapella in/out tools often used by mix show DJ’s for smoother song transitions.
Party Break: A compilation of wordplay, lyrical highlights and dance influencing elements from one or multiple songs combined and edited into one arrangement based on a theme.
Remix: This is the complete re-thinking of an existing song only using the most familiar elements to recreate the energy and genre in a new way based on the producers preference. This includes new instrumentation, percussion, and composition. Usually only the core melody and vocal will be used in a REMIX. Important note: It is very important to the music community that the use of the word “Remix” on anything but an actual remix is unacceptable. Silent Disco
What is the point of a Silent Disco?
To have fun of course! A Silent Disco can have many different applications, ranging from high-tech party, to an alternate listening experience for people who are hard of hearing. We think any reason is a good reason for a silent disco, and if we can help make your idea come true, we’d love to help.
Does everyone listen to the same music at a Silent Disco?
One of the best parts of a Silent Disco is everyone can listen to their music channel of choice. If you have multiple DJs, or one DJ and a Spotify playing on iPads you can stream up to three stations, letting your guests pick their favorite to dance to.
What do you need for a Silent Disco?
To host a successful silent disco, you’ll need a few items:
- Silent Disco headphones – Make sure to get enough for all your guests.
- Silent Disco Transmitter – You’ll need at least one of these. You can add two more if you wish to have more music channels for your guests to change to.
- Music – You can hire one of our DJ’s or provide a laptop or iPad with playlists. The best is when you have three DJ’s all playing different music genres.
Is Silent Disco Fun?
Most definitely! it’s just a different way of listening to music. You can party all night long to the music of your choice, at your preferred volume level. No speakers mean no noise disturbance for your neighbors, or feeling like you need to “step out” for a break from all the music. Simply pop the headphones off and hangout until you are ready to jump back on the dance floor.
